A Short Review Of Samsung Galaxy S20 FE

The Galaxy S20 FE from Samsung packs everything you want from a premium phone but at a more reasonable price. The top features you get with this phone include a 120Hz display, triple-camera setup with 30x hybrid zoom, and 5G support. The cost of this phone is just $699.

Samsung, however, had to cut some corners to keep the price of this phone down. For instance, this phone comes with a plastic back instead of glass. It has reduced screen resolution. It has less RAM compared to the regular Galaxy S20. Nonetheless, these compromises do not make the Galaxy S20 FE any less capable phone in the lot.

Design

The Galaxy S20 FE stands out with six color options. These options include Lavender, Navy, Red, Mint, White, and Orange. You can choose from these color options depending on your choice.

For the sake of affordability, Samsung has made a few design concessions in the Galaxy S20 FE. However, this phone doesn’t look cheap by any means. The polycarbonate back tends to make this phone feel solid and premium.

While this phone has thicker bezels compared to those on the Galaxy S20, it still offers a full-screen experience.

The Galaxy S20 FE comes with an IP68 rating, meaning that it is adequately resistant to dust and water damage.

The Galaxy S20 FE measures 6.29 x 2.93 x 0.33 inches and weighs 6.7 ounces. That makes this phone a bit thicker and heavier compared to the standard S20.

Display

While the Galaxy S20 FE doesn’t offer a sharper quad-HD display, its 1080p display is still sharp enough to make the screen content crispier. On top of that, the screen of this phone comes with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The OLED panel of Galaxy S20 FE allows for the black portions to remain deep black. The colors are also quite vibrant.

Cameras

The Galaxy S20 FE is one of the best camera phones available. Aside from three cameras on the rear, this phone also has a 32MP front cam.

The rear camera setup consists of a 12MP ultra-wide lens, 12MP primary camera, and an 8MP telephoto lens. The telephoto lens offers 3x optical zoom.

Overall, the photos taken by the camera system of this phone are brighter than many other flagship phones available in the market, including the iPhone 11. The image processing in this phone is powered by quite potent AI-based software.

Performance

The tradeoffs the Galaxy S20 FE comes with do not include the processing performance. This phone packs the Snapdragon 865, which is the most potent Android smartphone processor chipset launched in 2020. The RAM, on the other hand, is 6GB, which is half of that in the Galaxy S20. The internal storage of this phone is 128GB, which you can expand up to 1TB through a MicroSD card.

Even with this relatively lower RAM, this phone runs multiple apps without lagging. The processor is also up to the mark, which is evident by its ability to run processor-intensive tasks smoothly, including gaming.

Battery life

The Galaxy S20 FE comes with a 4500mAh battery unit, which is bigger than the 4000mAh in the Galaxy S20. This battery capacity, however, looks meager if you keep the screen-refresh rate at a higher level.
